Explorations of Movement and Colour

These four works investigate movement and the quiet language of transition. Created with palette knives and acrylic paint, the compositions balance depth and restraint. The burgundy tones signal an emerging confidence and the olive green offers a balance of grounding and reflection.

These four mini paintings are to explore flow as an emotional state.

Using a palette knife and acrylic paint, I allowed the knife to move freely across the canvas, gently blending the paint with softness to allow the soft blending of colours. This creates a release through the canvas in a specific placement with negative space to allow the painting to still feel calm.

The dark burgundy paintings represent a bolder step into colour and self-assurance. This is where as an artist I’m starting to grow in a quiet confidence with colour.

The olive green acts as a counterbalance for more muted reflected steadiness to encourage a pause and they hold space for the calm.
